Toronto District School Board opens its first co-ed washroom

TORONTO, June 18, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An “alternative” school dedicated to “equity” issues has opened the Toronto District School Board’s first co-ed washroom.

Intended primarily for students identifying as “transgender,” the washroom was set up after a petition by grade 8 students that cited last year’s passage of Bill 33, which enshrined protections based on “gender identity” and “gender expression” in Ontario.

The school board unveiled the washroom at City View Alternative Senior School on Friday in a sign-hanging ceremony, according to the Toronto Star.

City View caters to Grade 7 and 8 students and is dedicated to “peace and social justice,” teaching the curriculum “through the lens of race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability.” Its website says there are 64 students and four teachers.

Ryan Bird, a spokesman for the Toronto District School Board, told LifeSiteNews that the washroom has two stalls, meaning that it would be a shared space for boys and girls. (more…)

The dire state of Ontario’s broken family courts

“There is no system ever devised by mankind that is guaranteed to rip husband and wife or father, mother and child apart so bitterly then our present Family Court System” – Judge Brian Lindsay Retired Supreme Court Judge

I have been pondering what has been happening in the courts lately. I am struck by the overall apathy of people until it directly affects their lives. Apathy is the very thing that destroys a nation. When we become apathetic we let down our guard and allow the wolves to enter the sheep’s fold. These wolves are cleverly disguised as sheep but no matter what they look like on the outside they are wolves who seek to devour every thing in sight. (more…)

Ottawa Catholic school board amends partnership policy but critics fear scandals will continue

OTTAWA, Ontario, June 18, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) amended its “Partnership, Sponsorship, and Donations” policy last week after repeatedly facing parental backlash over choices of school trips, events, and speakers that parents say were hostile toward the Catholic faith. But life and family leaders and parents are concerned that the amendments will do little or nothing to curb the scandals happening in the schools under the board’s watch.

“The amended policy is way too ambiguous and has too much wiggle room,” said Jack Fonseca, Project Manager for Campaign Life Catholics to LifeSiteNews.com.

“What this policy needed is a simple statement, such as: ‘We will not engage in partnerships or sponsorships with individuals or organizations who publicly advocate for positions contrary to Catholic moral teaching nor will we give a platform to any speaker who publicly advocates for such positions.’”

While Teresa Pierre, president of Parents As First Educators (PAFE), called the policy a “step in the right direction,” she said she “wished for clearer vetting procedures [...] to better reduce the possibility of problematic partner choices slipping through.” (more…)

University of Toronto Stu-dunces Union At it Again

The Canadian Federation of Students held their annual meeting in Ottawa three weeks ago. Its a 4 day annual event and this year ran from May 30 – June 2, 2013 .

No matter how much I want to make a trip to that ‘show’ and ensure that feminist inspired censorship does not ensue, it just ain’t going to happen. The best I can do is to report on it and attend events in my own community. (I attended the Slutwalk in Hamilton; bringing a bit of perspective to all the sluts.)

Those are the facts of the case. Now lets move onto the U of T Grad Student’s lies, I mean assertions.

No I was right the first time, lies.

Their motion with the designated title of Motion 2013/05:N16 at first glance, like most feminist inspired writing of policies, laws, and legislation looks innocuous enough. But do not let the title of the motion fool you. If you are a student and male it is poison.

In fact if you are a human who enjoys pure uncensored free speech and the freedom to explore the discussing of ideas it is absolute intellectual cyanide mixed with the feel good veneer of feminism. (more…)

Red scare: Blind Chinese dissident claims Chinese communist conquest of U.S. academia

Blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng has now released a statement concerning his allegations that New York University is severing relations with him to curry favor with China’s oppressive Communist government and assure completion of a gleaming portal campus in Shanghai.

The statement, obtained Sunday night by The Daily Caller, is a humdinger. In addition to squarely accusing NYU of caving to Chinese pressure, the self-taught lawyer and famed human rights activist charges that a large number of American academics and academic institutions have become wrapped in the tentacles of China’s communist government.

“The work of the Chinese Communists within academic circles in the United States is far greater than what people imagine, and some scholars have no option but to hold themselves back,” Chen said. “Academic independence and academic freedom in the United States are being greatly threatened by a totalitarian regime.”  (more…)
